About the project
A £21 million state of the art new regional office for the Welsh Government in Aberystwyth, this building is an exemplar of sustainable building design and delivery and has been carefully planned to mitigate its impact on the environment. It provides a sustainable, energy efficient working environment for over 500 staff and has been designed to achieve an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating.
Key environmentally friendly features include a natural ventilation system to regulate the buildings temperature and brise soleil to provide natural shading. Other features include a biomass boiler, solar panels for heating, intelligent lighting controls, rainwater harvesting system and a wind turbine for electricity generation
ChandlerKBS had a combined appointment as project manager, cost manager, CDM co-ordinator and NEC3 supervisor. The commission was managed with key resources deployed on site to successfully deliver the works.
