ChandlerKBS was commissioned to oversee the cost and project management of the project which comprised the full refurbishment of 300 guestrooms at the prestigious central London 5* hotel. The hotel had a gas explosion in the basement in November 2014, which closed the hotel down for a period making it possible to do the already planned hard refurbishment of floors 3-6 as a single programme. All 244 guestrooms on floors 3-6 were completely refurbished and redecorated with new furniture and casegoods.
Following the successful completion of the initial project, the client decided to continue the roll out of the new design into the guestrooms of the 2nd floor. The 2nd floor project comprised the full refurbishment of the existing 52 guestrooms, suites and the creation of 6 new guestrooms from existing offices and fitness centre. The £16.6 million refurbishment also included 4 meeting rooms and the associated public toilets, including an enhancement of the entire audio and visual system to the meeting rooms.
