This £134 million scheme is one of five Key Transport Corridors identified in the Northern Ireland Regional Transportation Strategy.

The A8 is the principal route that connects Belfast with Larne and is used by a large percentage of Northern Ireland traffic and a smaller percentage of the Republic of Ireland traffic. The design for the scheme comprised of 14km predominately on-line dualling, 8km of ancillary roads, one full grade separated junction, four compact grade separated junctions, 2 roundabouts and 8 bridge structures.

ChandlerKBS provided cost management and procurement advice on the scheme, using an ECI approach, and assisted in the development of the procurement strategy, and the preparation of contract documents and tender evaluation. During the construction phase ChandlerKBS was responsible for supporting the Project Manager in assessing entitlement and quantum of Compensation Events, Risk Managements, assessing the Price for Work Done to Date and Preparing Interim Payment Certificates and expenditure forecasting. ChandlerKBS were also responsible for assisting the Employer in preparing annual scheme budgets and for preparing commercial information required facilitate audits that secured T-ENT EU Funding.
