News: Pont y Werin - People's Bridge

Work is underway for the construction of a £4.5 million bridge, which will provide a pedestrian link between Cardiff's International Sports Village and Penarth.

ChandlerKBS is providing the cost management services for the bridge called ‘Pont Y Werin', which translates into ‘People's Bridge'.

The project, which will complete the 6.5 mile bay edge walkway, involves the construction of a bascule bridge, one which lifts to allow boats to pass underneath, to cross the River Ely between Penarth Marina and the Sports Village.

The 140m structure will have a steel deck area with anti-climb pedestrian rails and will operate from the control tower at the barrage, opening twice every hour.
